The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum: An Interview with Julia Gutto
Julia Gutto, a student at Saint Joseph's University, took a trip down memory lane as she reminisced on her 2013 trip to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Museum in Cleveland, Ohio. I prepared a variety of open-ended questions, and we talked for about 20 minutes. I challenged myself to cut all of that down into this three minute segment.
I used a lavalier mic and zoom recorder to record the session and edited on Adobe Premiere Pro.

[0:00] Claire: Hello everyone. My name is Claire Fitzgerald, and I am a senior at St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia. Today, I got to sit down with a fellow classmate, Julia Gutto, to talk about one of the most memorable trips she’s taken.
[0:17] Julia: Hi, my name is Julia Gutto, and I’m a senior here at St. Joseph’s University. So, back in 2013, I had the opportunity to go to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum. I absolutely loved being there; we spent the whole day there, and I got to see everything. And that was really important for me because I wanted to make sure that I hit all of the different exhibits so I could leave knowing that I saw everything, and I was at peace with that. It was truly incredible. I love music so much, rock and roll is one of my favorite genres, and to see some of my favorite bands there, that had been inducted, and to go through the different rooms and read their own exhibits… It was really cool and… It was such a huge part of my childhood, listening to their music, so then that was brought to life by actually seeing their faces and reading about their history and all their awards…
[1:16] Claire: Julia and I dove deeper into why rock music is such an important part of her life:
[1:22] Julia: Yeah, definitely a family connection. Bonding, for sure, even in car rides, like my dad has a whole stack of classic rock artists. Steve Miller Band, Peter Frampton, The Beatles, like some of my favorites, and we listen to them in the car, sing along, like, those are some of my happiest childhood memories. Also, outside of the family connection, music in general has always been something that calms me down, in a way, like when I need to focus, or when I just need to, like, tune out the rest of the world and just focus on whatever I’m doing, music kind of helps me to like, relax and center myself so I can focus on what I need to do, and rock music definitely does that for me, so, there’s a lot of, like, benefits. Definitely the family connection for sure has been the longest [laughs]. So, yeah. That’s so special [laughs].
[2:28] Claire: Julia talked about one particular section that stood out to her:
[2:33] Julia: And one of my favorite parts of the museum was they had a whole exhibit dedicated to the Rolling Stones, because the year that we went they were celebrating 50 years of being a band, and that was so cool; the graphics, the costumes, everything was just spectacular. I truly felt like I was in heaven, like, it was incredible.
[2:55] Claire: At St. Joseph’s University, I’m Claire Fitzgerald. Thanks for listening.
