Crecer

I created this piece in Fall 2019 while studying abroad in Granada, Spain for four months. I saw an advertisement seeking pieces for an art gallery, and decided to make this piece. It served as a reflection about the ways in which I had grown while being out of my comfort zone living in a new country. The design is based off of Arabic Islamic designs throughout Southern Spain. Each section has its own focus, like improving my Spanish or growing in confidence. Each of the 81 unique photos serves as evidence for that topic, like showing my host family's dining room table where I practiced Spanish daily.
